Bill Tiberio Group
The Bill Tiberio Group has become a mainstay in the Rochester contemporary and traditional jazz scenes in the last several years. Their debut CD, "the story ends, the story begins".... has garnered favorable reviews and extensive Rochester jazz radio play. They've played with Fred Wesley (of James Brown fame), and recently opened for guitarist Chuck Loeb, Celtic Jazz violinist, Eileen Ivers, contemporary jazz saxophonist Euge Groove, and the contemporary jazz group, Cabo Frio.
Bill has performed on saxophone with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, grammy-award winning Latin jazz flutist Nestor Torres, drummer David Mancini, saxophonist Terrance Bruce, the Temptations, and the Four Tops, and is also a member of the Rochester-based original group, the Bill Welch Band, and the Spiritus Christi Gospel Choir. He was formerly a member of The Boss Street Band, and has played with Prime Time Funk, Latin Vibes, Caliente, Me & the Boyz, Swing Shift, Unlimited, Time Piece, Twilight, and other wedding and party bands.
For private parties, Bill can perform in duo, trio, quartet, or quintet with vocalist settings. He has done dozens of wedding ceremonies as well.
Recent Press:
From Rochester's City Magazine (Nov. 26-Dec. 2, 2003 issue), Frank DeBlase, music editor: featured in "Short Takes" with photo: "Bill Tiberio is a sax-blowin' cat with his fingers in all different kinds of pies. I suspect some toes as well. A music educator at Fairport HS for 16 years, Tiberio brings his talent and experience to the classroom. His recently released first album, The Story Ends...The Story Begins, moves around traditional jazz and light, funky grooves with smooth-jazz execution and a soulful polish."
From Rochester's freetime magazine, (Nov. 26-Dec. 10, 2003 issue), Michelle Picardo, Contributing Editor on the release of the Bill Welch Band's new Christmas CD, Love Was Born, "Welch's soulful vocals lead these pop/rock songs-with-a-message, augmented by wonderful jazzy play from noted local saxophone player, Bill Tiberio... The Bill Tiberio Group continue to support their stellar release, The Story Ends...The Story Begins, certainly one of this area's best jazz releases of the year."
